About The Yogic Guide
Rishikesh has more yoga schools than anyone can read through. We built an index of them that tells you the truth about what it knows and what it doesn’t.
What this is
We list 307 yoga schools, ashrams, meditation halls and Ayurveda centres. You answer six short questions; we rank every listing against your answers and show the specific reasons each one matched. Then you go straight to that centre’s own website and deal with them directly.
What we don’t do
We take no booking fee and no commission, and no centre can pay to rank higher — there is no mechanism for it, because we take no money from centres at all. We do not republish operator descriptions, photographs or prices. What you see here is either factual (a name, an address, a phone number) or our own derived view of what a centre publishes about itself.
How we know what we know
Place details come from Google. Everything else is read from each centre’s own website: what they teach, what formats they run, whether they claim Yoga Alliance registration. We re-check every link on a schedule and record when it last responded, because a directory is only as good as its worst link.
That method has a limit worth stating plainly. Tags are derived by matching keywords against readable text, so a school that teaches something without naming it can be missing a tag it deserves. We show the reasoning behind every match precisely so you can discount a bad one yourself rather than having to trust the whole system.
On prices
Prices for these programmes live in prose, change by season and room type, and are often quoted differently to Indian and foreign students. Scraping a number yields one that is wrong often enough to be a liability, so we show a price only where an operator has declared it. A missing price costs you a phone call. A wrong price costs you a booking you regret.
If you run a centre
Listings are free and always will be. Write to us to correct your details, declare a price, add your own photographs — or to be removed entirely, which needs no justification.
Running costs
Mapping a city properly costs real money in Places API calls, and this site carries no advertising and takes nothing from centres. If you would like to help us cover more of India, there is a page about that.
